Daedalus Reef
Daedalus Reef is a huge reef located approximately 180 km south of the Brother Islands. Surrounded by steep walls on all sides, the reef has a plateau on its southern side, starting at a depth of 28 metres next to the reef and descending to 40 metres along the edge of the drop-off. If the weather is suitable, drift diving along the reef walls starting from the north is a fantastic experience.
Between May and July, Hammerhead Sharks and Oceanic Whitetip Sharks can often be seen in this area.
With a little luck, you may also encounter a Manta Ray.
Elphinstone Reef
Elphinstone Reef is located in the open sea, approximately 12 kilometres off the coast of Marsa Alam. This narrow reef, stretching in a north-south direction, is surrounded by steep walls and is known for its rich soft coral cover extending down to around 40 metres.
Elphinstone is one of the places where there is a high chance of encountering grey reef sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, and occasionally hammerhead sharks. Thanks to its strong currents, it offers a plankton-rich environment, which attracts large predators to the area.
Fury Shoal
Located off the coast of Hamata in southern Egypt, Fury Shoal is one of the most diverse and impressive reef systems in the Red Sea.
Home to famous dive sites such as Sha’ab Claudio, Abu Galawa, Malahi, and Sha’ab Maksur, this area stands out with its colourful soft corals, maze-like caves, swim-throughs, and rich marine life.
Sataya (Dolphin House)
Located at the southern end of the Fury Shoal system, Sataya Lagoon is especially famous for offering the opportunity to swim and snorkel with spinner dolphins.
For this reason, it is also known as “Dolphin House”. Thanks to its wide and sheltered lagoon area, it is possible to dive and snorkel in calm waters.
